If you have visitors to your home often, you should know how to make your home more inviting and cozy to them. Here is the way to to make your home more comfortable to you and to others.





1) You know how it makes you feel in the Wintertime when you walk in out of the cold into a house that has a nice warm fireplace. If your house is in a cold climate or even a temperate climate you can do the same thing with your home. A fireplace and a nice warm cup of hot tea will add a good amount of coziness to your home.



2) Candles also add a bit if warmth to a home. Like the fireplace, the candles have fire that somehow makes a house more appealing.




3) Books on a bookshelf make your house more likable also. The hard back books are superior for this job, rather than soft back books. Remove the paper covers to show the permanent cover and place them as decoration under lamps. They will make your house more engaging.



4) Use blankets and pillows. These are always liked by most everyone. They will add comfort and the coziness you are seeking. Do not overdo it with too many of those pillows on the sofa. Leave room for people to sit and even have those huge pillows on the floor for kids. A bean bag chair is a similar addition.



5) A scent or aroma in the air helps to make a house likable. If you use scented candles, make sure they are a common scent that most will enjoy. You do not want the opposite effect of turning people off because they do not like the smell of your house.




6) Use family photos to make your house more personal and "lived in". Use earthy tones to color the inside of your house. Use unique items to individualize the interior of your home for maximum effect.



7) Use light dimmers on your overhead and other lights. This is great effect not only to make your house more cozy but to control the mood also.



8) Use furniture that you know is comfortable. People sitting in uncomfortabel furniture will remember it. Be kind and purchase furniture that is easy to sit in. If your visitors are elderly, also use furniture that is easy to exit out of.



Making a house more individualized is part of the key to making a house that people will want to come back and visit. Doing what makes you the most comfortable is likely to have the same effect on others.
