Installing a refrigerator is not that hard if you get everything set up ahead of time. Get a quick set of instructions on how to do just that right here. The tools you will need are; scraps of carpet, a level, a lamp, adjustable wrench, measuring tape, and wood blocks.

1) The first step is to make absolutely sure that the space you want to put the refrigerator in is large enough to accept the refrigerator. The electrical outlet should not be in a place where the refrigerator will touch the end of the cord. Remember to include the length of electrical cord sticking out of the wall as a part of your measurement to make sure the refrigerator will fit.

2) Use the scraps of carpet to help you slide the refrigerator into place. Put the strips of carpet under the refrigerator with the fuzzy side down. Plug the refrigerator in first if you will not be able to reach the plug after the refrigerator is in place. Do not turn the refrigerator on its side for any reason. Keep it upright at all times.

3) After sliding the refrigerator in place, remove the carpet.

4) Use a level to check the attitude of the refrigerator. If the refrigerator is not level, you will need to remove the front grille at the bottom of the refrigerator and adjust the feet on the unit. An adjustable wrench does this well. If you want to jack up the refrigerator and install a block under it to adjust the feet to level the unit, that is fine also.

5) The refrigerator should shut the door on its own without help after it is level. If not keep working until you get it right.

6) Does your refrigerator have an icemaker ? If it does, you should look at the manufacturer's instructions to see how to hook this up now.

7) Do not put food into the refrigerator until you run the unit for at least four or five hours.

Remember to never use an extension cord with a refrigerator. This will increase the likelihood that you will get shocked or electrocuted. Do not install the refrigerator in the sun. Do not install the unit near things that make heat, such as the furnace or stove.
